The Water Goddess

A beautiful young maiden covered in fine fabrics and jewels made her way towards the body of water. Her eyes and hair matched with a chocolaty brown color, while her skin looked as soft and smooth as a feather. She was fairly tall, the clothing and jewels she wore were all that of different types of blue.

As many before her, she stopped in front of the body of water while the people of the nearby village surrounded her. She looked around, her brown eyes seemingly panicked as she continuously glanced at the way they came from before, around her were the people who walked there with her.

These people are crazy!

The young maiden, or rather a girl named Willow, was very unsure how she ended up in this situation. Actually, she knew how, just didn’t understand it. She was not from this village, rather she was from a busy city. She had never originally intended of going out into the middle of nowhere, but after following a whim during her travels to search for her origins, she somehow ended up in this shady out of date village.

She should have realized how odd it was, that after she came here the people had suddenly started treating her like royalty. Free stay, free food, gifted jewels and rather beautiful cosplay looking clothing. She was more caught up in enjoying it than actually thinking about why they were doing it.

She didn’t really begin to panic until they suddenly began dragging her over to a small lake after binding her wrists with silk cloth. Well, that and the conversation she overheard about a sacrifice to the gods, was all pretty alarming.

Willow really wished she learned some art of fighting, or maybe worked out more. Then she could just fight her way out of this mess. But of course, she had to be more interested in dancing and singing, fancy moves wouldn’t help her get through over forty people!

She felt a slight push from behind, and she turned her head to see one of the village women urging her on to walk out onto the dock. Willow could not help but give a pleading look towards her, which was met with an averted gaze.

“Okay..okay..okay..I appreciate the kind treatment when I got here, but I don’t recall ever agreeing to be some sacrifice to your god or whatever. How about, you just let me go and you go find something else to throw into the water. Perhaps grapes! I am sure this water guy or whatever, would love those!” Willow attempted to try and persuade them to let her go. She was met with silence and a rather harsh push into her back to make her walk faster.

Rude!

Now was not the time to be offended by the silent treatment, she just needed to work on freeing her wrists so she could swim and keep from drowning. Now that shouldn’t be too hard, as long as she could swim faster than they could jump in to force her back under.

She almost had the silk loosened, when suddenly she discovered her vision began to blur. She began to have trouble keeping her eyes open, while the village people backed away from the dock and began to bow and mumble a strange chant.

Willow recalled the fine meal she had earlier, they must have slipped something into it. If it weren’t for the drowsy feeling filling her, her heart would probably be running a mile a minute with how panicked she was becoming.

Is this how…I am going to die? Murdered by some crazy people?

A tear slipped out of the corner of her eye, before they shut and she fell forward. It was not long before she was enveloped by cold water. It kept her from passing out as the cold water awoke the numbing muscles.

It did not, however, awaken them enough to bless her with the ability to move. Instead she stared up towards the surface of the water as she slowly sank. Her clothing flowing around her, while the blue pendant necklace she wore fell much slower than she did, much like if she were to fall off a building, but slower.

Is…this the end….but there was so much I wanted to do still…darn crazy villagers.

Her thoughts began to fade with her consciousness as she began to give into her need of sleep, taking in water without much thought even with the painful feeling it gave to her lungs. Now, she would not notice the blue pendant necklace on her neck begin to glow. Soon followed by the sweet whisper of a sing song voice.

“You have finally returned, my sweet water lily.”

A flowery scent filled her nose, and the sounds of birds, were the first things Willow is met with as she regains consciousness. That and the familiar pattern of her heart beat. Did this mean…she was alive? Did she somehow survive by ending up on a land somewhere or shallow water? Was that even possible with having fallen into a small, but deep lake?

The excitement of this had her open her eyes quicker than she ever had in her life. Not sparing a moment as she quickly became fully awake.

What the…where is this?

What surrounded her was a bluish pink tint, and just that. As she looked around, she discovered she was surrounded by this colour. As she moved her arm, in order to reach out towards the color, she noticed she was floating.

She was still in water somehow…and breathing. Recalling the birds she heard earlier, of course she was confused.

Willow looked around wide eyed, not believing her eyes. Was this…..the afterlife? Wherever this was, she felt alive enough. But how on earth could she have gotten from that lake to wherever this is?

Also, if this is the afterlife, would she spend forever inside this….water bubble? Still confused she continued to reach out and her hand brushed against the color around her. It was soft, and slightly slimy. It reminded her of a lily pad, but as well as a flower petal with how it felt.

She wondered if she could leave this place, if she was trapped inside something and with a wall as soft as this, it wouldn’t be too hard to get out, right? With her urge to escape, the side she was pressing against with her hand suddenly peeled away revealing a blue sky. The watery liquid she was in was beginning to fall out of the hole she had created, bringing her with it.

Willow’s heart rate picked up in speed as she found herself falling out of the strange thing, and into the sky. It was as she fell with the bubble of water, she realized that perhaps she should have taken into consideration that she had felt slight movement well within. It looked like a flower of some kind. It was floating along, seeming to have a tougher looking outside then what the inside had been like. Seeming like that only because she saw a bird crash into it, before falling downwards knocked out.

She turned her eyes away from the flower and over to where she was falling down. She first saw an extravagant looking castle, with a crowd of people in front of it. There did not seem to be any real safe place to land from her fall.

Well…death by falling, was it really too much for the world to accept she survived that watery death?! Willow wished she could fly at that moment, or at least kept to the strange flower like thing she had woken up in.

Deciding it would be better to shut her eyes and wait for the worse, she silently fell as she prepared herself for the pain.

It never came.

Instead, right before she neared the ground, she felt the water around her forming tighter around her. Turning into a sphere before beginning to slow down in speed. Slowly, the sphere of water lowered the falling girl into a fountain.

Once it touched the water in the bottom of the fountain, the water around her fell and became one with it, leaving her to lay in a shallow section of water with her face revealed to the air.

Upon not feeling bone crushing pain, and rather human cheers, she decided to open her eyes and sit up. That is when she discovered she was sitting in a fountain, which was surrounded by over hundreds of men and women.

“Huh?” Willow moved to stand up, stumbling a bit as she did so, and looked around to see many people with excited looks on their faces. Confusion filled her own, and she soon found her eyes landing on the castle nearby. It was a very large castle, the size hard to grasp as she looked upon it with wide eyes.

Then, she noticed a man. He stood out very easily from the others due to the jewel filled golden crown on his head. The man began walking towards her, and she took in his appearance. He had shoulder length dirty blonde hair and bright green eyes.

As he got to the edge of the fountain, he got to one knee and bowed his head towards her. The other people around the fountain began to do the same.

“Oh heavenly being, thank you for answering our call of need. We have called upon you to help us return water to our drying lands, and bring prosperity to this country” The young looking man in jewels told her while keeping his head bowed.

Willow was rather flustered, not sure how to take the situation. It seemed all a bit too much to her. The best thing to do, was probably to just go along with it. Although she had no idea what any of this was about, a bit fearful since the last time she was treated like royalty she was tossed into a lake.

“Um, what? I think you may be mistaken.” She was attempting to clear up whatever this was, and beginning to wonder if this was a dream. How much nicer this experience would be if she didn’t have to worry about the consequences.

“Mistaken?” The young man stood up, giving her a look of confusion. He raised his hand before pointing up towards the sky. “You fell from the sky in a sphere of water, you must be a goddess or some sort of blessed being sent to answer our pleas.”

Oh right, that had happened. The crazy situation she was in, actually had her forget she had fallen from a very tall height into a fountain of water. This was all just so bizarre, again how was it she ended up here?

Curse those crazy villagers.

“But I thi-” Before she could say anything else the young man offered a hand out to her, bringing her to silence as she looked into his eyes and saw a glint of something that reminded her of the eyes of those villagers.

“I am called Nellio, I am the ruler of this country. I ask that you please bring this country water, bless these lands to be fertile once again.” Nellio asked her with a kind smile, continuing to offer her a hand to grab to get out of the fountain.

Would this man not just listen to her? Bless this land with water, she didn’t even know how she ended up here! This all seemed to be verging on crazy, if she ever decided to tell this as a story in the future.

She was about to argue, make it clear she was not this being who could bless them with water. But as she stepped out of the fountain, and took a small look around, she noticed a very unpleasant sight.

Behind the fountain statue that was seated in the center, the area she could not see from her previous spot, was a tied up woman. She was soaked in red, as if someone had poured buckets of the substance onto her. She wore rags and had over twenty arrows shot through her chest and stomach.

No one seemed to be bothered by this sight, rather all focused on Willow with hope filled eyes. A few people near the woman, held bows in their hands. It was easy to understand a very important fact after taking all of this in.

These people had brought this woman here and killed her. A crime was not committed by this woman other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time. She was their blessed sacrifice, whom they used to call upon the gods for water.

It would not be too much to say that if they felt she was not actually one who could bless them with what they wanted, they would probably kill her then try this ritual again. It would be suicide to have them deem her useless.

“I….have had a long journey. I need much rest before I can use my…power to bring water to these desert lands. There is also much that needs to be done before I can bring forth the water” Lies, and excuses to keep her safe a bit longer from this crazy bunch of people.

Nellio did not seemed too bothered by her words, seeming still rather pleased that this ritual worked. After so many tries, how could he not be pleased to now be seeing the one who would strengthen his country?

“That is fine, I can give you a place to rest and anything you may need to summon the water. Please, won’t you follow me.” He continued that smile, with that same look inside those green eyes that began to put her on edge.

She began to follow him inside the large castle, listening to him talk about the country while she took in the castle interior. The place seemed to be made from mud and stone, and decorated inside with lavish items such as paintings with actual gold used in them.

“Here is your room, if you need anything just ring that bell and you will get aid right away” Nellio told her while smiling, his head held up proudly while an armored man stood behind him quietly.

“By the way, holy being, what may your name be?” He asked, curiosity glinting in his eyes. Since the records of the water goddess are very scarce compared to the ones of the water god, he wondered what she may be called. It was very bold of him to ask, although she was not aware.

“Oh, my name is…Willow. Thank you for giving me such a…” She took a look around the room she had entered, large and filled with very expensive looking things. “ …a..room to stay in.” She held in her awe, since a goddess surely would not be very impressed by something like this.

He continued to smile at her. “I only wish to give the best while you are here, now go rest up quickly so you can soon begin summoning the water.”

Then, she was left alone. The door shut behind him and as soon as she knew she was alone, she fell. She lost all the strength in her legs as she allowed her panic to fill her.

“Oh, what am I going to do?!” She had hoped to escape in the middle of the night, but that was not possible. The place was so packed with armed men, she definitely would be noticed leaving. Even if she did manage to escape, where would she go? She did not know how things worked here, or how far the desert stretched.

Tears began to well up in her eyes, a small sob threatening to escape her lips as she began to feel so hopeless. What could she do? She did not have these powers they spoke of, and she could not lie forever. Was this just the counting down to the day her head was held up on a sphere after countless hours of torture for pretending to be something she was not?

That night she quietly cried, curling up on the floor as the stress of her situation enveloped her. She would not notice however, the change of her eye color to a bright blue and the faint rain that began to fall outside her window.

The next day came, and she looked like a wreck. Her eyes were all puffed up and she was exhausted from not sleeping at all that night. She felt like an empty shell, not paying much attention as maids came in and began to help her change. They presented her with breakfast. Breakfast which consisted of a few fruits and a small cup of water.

If she had known more of this world, then she would have known that these things were very rare. Something not even a noble could touch due to its rarity. Water being scarce, fruits and such were very scarce.

After lunch was when her emotion began to return and she grew embarrassed as she remembered being undressed and redressed by the maids. She was wondering how she had been so hollow to allow that to happen without a drop of embarrassment was beyond her.

“Are you well rested?”

“Oh, um yes..” Willow replied automatically before paling as she realized who had asked her.

Nellio smiled at this, “That is good, then please will you not begin on summoning the water?” His stare was intense, and his smile although kind looking, was unpleasant. Now that she had admitted to being well rested, there was no way she could try to postpone this another day.

“Oh..um well…okay” She could not help how her voice grew quieter, she was never a very good actor to begin with. So she was not one who could keep up the ‘high and mighty goddess’ act.

“Great! Is there anything you require for it?” He asked her, seeming very excited by this.

“I uh..” Willow’s eyes suddenly lit up as she had an idea.

Thus began the ridiculous list, including things like ‘a pink and purple coloured flower located at the very peak of a cliff growing from a crack in the stone’ to ‘a ten leaf clover” and other bizarre and exact things. Most of which were not items that could possibly exist anywhere.

All it took was three days, however, for them to bring her each item she asked for. Apparently the things she asked for were very common and easy to find here. Well, besides the red leaf she asked for, since leaves did not change color here on the trees that did grow. That took some traveling to another country.

Now, she had nothing to postpone this any longer. Having no choice but to awkwardly begin mixing everything they had gathered for her in a small pot of water while singing childhood lullabies.

Never in her life did she ever think she would be doing this. What one will do to preserve their life is truly amazing.

Once it was ‘done,  she began doing weird dances and singing while hoping perhaps she did have this power they wanted.

She was wrong, nothing happened. The only thing she ended up with was this really good healing mush from the pot that helped keeping wounds from getting infected.

“What you made was nice, but I recall asking for water. Not healing products.” Nellio had stopped smiling, and had begun to look at her questionably.

Now that he was not blinded from his joy, he could see that she was not what he had hoped for. “You refuse to give us water, is that it? Had we not given so much to you, is this one simple thing too much? Do you hate us so, or perhaps you are powerless.” He rambled on, seeming to figure something out while she slowly began to walk away. The armored man who always followed Nellio around stopped her, panic began to rise within her.

“Ah, wait. I see. The gods must have sent you down to test us. Perhaps you are the true sacrifice they want!” His eyes widened upon his realization. A large grin stretching out on his face as he looked her dead in the eye.

As if already knowing what he was going to order, the man in armor grabbed a hold of her to keep her from running away and began dragging her over towards the fountain. While he did this, other man ran to grab some weapons while Nellio went to pull a golden hilted knife from his robes.

“Wait! I don’t think this is going to do anything! Let me go!!” Willow quickly began breaking down, tears streaming down her cheeks as she tried to struggle against them. As she cried, it began to rain.

Nellio grinned as he stared up at the sky, stretching his arms out and opening his mouth wide to accept the drops on his skin and tongue.

“I was right! This is a sign, we must continue with the sacrifice!” He declared in a loud voice before falling into mad laughter.

Willow felt like a hand was grabbing at her lungs and gripping at them tightly, her breathing becoming shallower as she looked around wildly in search of escape. They began to bind her wrists together, tightly with a rough rope. It was sad to say, but the village people had been kinder.

As she was forced to her knees, to kneel before the fountain, a crack of thunder sounded. The fairly light rain from her crying, had suddenly become a great storm. Thunder cracks and shots of lightning following one after another as the cold wind bit at her skin.

“Who dares make my beloved cry?” A large voice boomed, seeming to come from the sky. It made her shiver upon hearing it, it sounded angry. Very angry. It made her freeze on the spot, along with her tears.

Nellio and his men seemed to become filled with surprise and filled with fear, all of them having frozen as well. Nellio was the first to break from it, quickly kneeling down to bow towards the sky.

“Oh heavenly god! We did not mean to anger you. I did not realize she was yours” Honestly speaking, he thought perhaps she was an imposter or demon trying to trick him and his people. Well, that and the whole ‘given sacrifice’ thing. To think that she really was the water goddess, but why was it she displayed no power or real godly vibe?

He then recalled the story, the one based on the pieces of information that they did have on the water goddess. He instantly began to grow very worried at the mistake he had made, he may be a bit bonkers but he did care for his kingdom.

“You did not notice my marking? How foolish, step away from her!” The voice continued and quickly the men surrounding her backed away. Going as far as they could from her while she stared up at the sky confused.

While all the humans around her bowed towards the sky, shivering in cold and fear, an object began to float down from the sky. She recognized it, it looked just like the thing she had arrived here in.

It slowly floated down, before landing beside her. Willow stared widely at it, moving to stand up, although ended up falling back down as her bound hands made it difficult. She looked up towards the sky, sniffling as she wondered what was happening once again. This seemed good for her, but was it? What did he mean by beloved?

“Who are you?” She screamed out towards the sky. Rather than a reply, the rain falling around her began to gather. It quickly gathered around her before forming a sphere. The rope bounding her suddenly snapped, leaving the bubble to go over and wrap around Nellio’s wrists. The sphere then lifts her and places her into the fully opened flower, which then closes once she is inside it.

The whole time she is filled with wonder, looking around as her panic subsided. For some reasons he felt really safe, as if everything was going to be okay now. She could not help but let the four days with no rest catch up with her as she was finally able to relax. Willow quickly fell asleep while floating inside the flower that had begun to ascending towards the sky.

As the flower went up, so did the raindrops and the remaining water in the fountain. To cross with the water god was something that received no mercy. Especially when it came to his goddess.

When Willow awoke, she was laid on an overly large bed with multiple blankets. She felt as if she were laying on a cloud. The room was about four times the size of a high school classroom, filled with colors of blue, violet and pink. As she looked to the floor, she noticed it was pure water, the furniture in the room seeming to float on top of it.

Where is this? She could not help but wonder as she moved to sit up. She wasn’t sure why she was not afraid, but she did know that her only way of getting answers would be to try and look for them. So she moved towards the edge of the bed and reached out a bare foot towards the floor. She wondered how deep the water was, but was surprised that as soon as her toe touched the water, it seemed to solidify, becoming a solid tiled floor only painted the color of still water.

Deciding that trying to figure out how this was possible would cause too big of a headache, she instead got out of bed and walked towards the only door in the room. She slowly wrapped her hand around the silver handle, before pulling.

Once the door was open, a long hall leading to a spiral staircase was revealed. There did not seem to be anyone in sight, quite different from the castle in the sand.

She began to walk down the hall before walking down the staircase. She quietly counted each step as she looked out for any other living souls that could be walking around. As she reached the bottom, she began to hear voices. One voice in particular stood out to her, upon hearing it she began to quickly make her way towards it. Not realizing her quickened steps caused the bells on her ankles to jingle with each movement.

As she neared the voices, which seemed to be outside in a large garden, they had suddenly stopped. She paused her step as she peered her head around the corner to see if they were still there. She had not expected to see a face staring right back at her.

“Ah, your awa-”

“Ah!” She screamed in surprise and took a step back, accidentally stumbling and falling backwards. She shut her eyes tightly as she waited to feel her bottom hit the floor, but instead she felt as if she were stilled mid-fall.

She opened her eyes confused, watching as she was gently put back onto her feet after being pushed back up by a bubble of floating water. She watched it become one with the floor, and tilted her head to the side as she watched the spot it had vanished confused.

“Are you alright? Ah, you gave me such a fright and you have only just woken up.” A masculine voice stated sounded relieved.

Her eyes quickly snapped over to look at where the voice came from. Landing on a well-dressed figure in fine silk robes. She had to tilt her head upwards a bit to see the face of this stranger, which was a rather feminine-looking person with long ice blue hair that fell down to almost touch the ground. They had eyes to match their hair and a blue gemmed crown wrapped around their forehead over top of their hair.

The first thing she thought was, this woman is so beautiful, before beginning to wonder where the male voice had come from. Willow quickly moved her eyes to search to see if there was anyone else, she saw another male with a sword at his side, standing just behind the beautiful woman.

“Um…” Willow glanced between the two, her words caught in her throat as she wasn’t sure what to ask first. As she tried to figure something out, she heard the same voice again.

“You look a bit pale…are you feeling okay?” This time he seemed to becoming worried once again.

When she heard the voice, she looked to the man behind the woman. But she saw his lips were not moving even though she clearly heard a voice. Then, she took a glance to the woman and was surprised to see her slightly leaned forward while speaking to her.

Taking a step forward, she, well he, leaned in closer to examine the confused and surprised Willow. She now just realized that this beautiful woman, was a man! Now that she looked closer, she did see masculine features here and there. Such as how when he leaned over she could spot some of his chest which became revealed to her, due to one of the pieces of silk shifting to the side with the movement.

Heat instantly began to fill her cheeks and she quickly took five steps back before hiding behind a tall, white pillar. Looking like a child hiding from a stranger, rather she was trying to hide away from her rushing heartbeat. She did not know why being around the man suddenly made her very shy and nervous. A river of feelings filling her confused her, assuming perhaps she was just embarrassed by her mistake.

“Oh, I see. You must be on edge with the sudden change and what happened. Do not worry, you are safe now. I can assure you that.” The feminine man told her sweetly while walking over to her. Her now bright blue eyes were watching him closely as he made his way over.

She was about to ask something, but a growl from her stomach stopped her. Heat flooded her cheeks once again, and she tilted her head down.

A sweet laugh filled her ears and out of the corner of her eyes she saw the beautiful man looking to her with humor in his eyes. “I knew you must be hungry. Come, follow me.” He offered a long fingered hand to her. She could not help but notice the blue nail polish on his nails as she reached out and grasped it.

As they began to walk, she widened her eyes, wondering when was it that she even decided to reach out and take his hand. It just seemed like such a natural thing, she could not help herself.

He led her to a large dining room where they were served fish, fruits and water. She could not help but chug down the water she was given, having not consumed much water even with her special treatment down in the sand castle. She usually had more than a pack of water a day, or at least had hours worth of baths to soothe a deep craving inside her. Either to be clean or healthy, she wasn’t sure why she had such an attachment to water.

As they ate, he began to give her a well-deserved information filler. He told her that she was in a different world, and in the different world she was in a high place called The Water Kingdom. The reason she had not died was because he had pulled her over to this world. She had been supposed to arrive here, but something had happened to cause her to leave the transport device sooner than she was supposed to.

She was more comfortable now, so she could form words properly once again. “So, why is it you brought me here?” He saved her, but why? She didn’t seem to understand what caused him to save her from her watery death.

“Why?” He smiled, the sight of it made her heart skip several beats and caused her to almost choke on her water. “It is because you are my dear wife. After all these years, finally I have found you.” That is when she spit the water out.

“What?!” Her voice rose as she stood out of her seat.

“Ah, calm down. Let me explain. You are my wife, the water goddess, reincarnation. You had died after your visit to the human realm didn’t go too well. Those vile creatures and that darn war, why was it you thought you could bring peace to such a greedy species?” His tone seemed to grow angrier as he spoke.

Willow was very confused, not believing what he told her. Her, a reincarnation of a goddess? It did not make much sense to her. Plus, she was far too plain to be something as extraordinary as a goddess!

Besides that, why was he getting so angry? What had happened to her in her past life for him to be so cross about it?

“I..think I may need some time to think” Everything has been so chaotic, she really did need some time to breathe and take it all in. He seemed to understand, giving a short nod.

“That is alright. If you wish, you can explore the place as you please. Not many walk these halls, so you can get all the space you need.” He told her with a small smile, the traces of anger from earlier gone.

After she finished her drink, she decided to head off on her own and enjoy the space and quiet to think. Each step she took making a soft jingle as she made her way around the large palace.

Then, she got lost. This place was so large, the fact she managed to go over an hour without realizing how easy it was to get lost in here, amazed her. So now, although she was in a calmer situation, she now had to deal with finding her way back to a familiar room. This would be easier if she could spot at least one person to ask for directions.

As she wandered, she found herself soon tired and decided to lean against a wall while she took a break. Thinking about how she wished she wasn’t lost anymore, an image of that beautiful man popped into her head.

Why was it this felt like…dejavu?

The pendant around her neck began to faintly glow, and suddenly images flashed across her eyes.

She saw these hallways, and herself. No, it was her but not her, this woman was beautiful. Long wavy locks of a deep coloured blue hair, warm blue eyes, and soft looking skin. A small nose with blue painted lips and a blue marking upon her forehead.

That woman she saw, was lost. Wandering around the halls in search of something, but what? The woman then seemed to grasp this blue pendant necklace around her neck and whisper a name.

Lorev

The images stopped and Willow stared down at the floor in confusion. What was that about? Why did it feel so real, as if she herself were there? Why did she see that anyway?

This seemed to add to her plate of questions without answers, causing her to groan before shutting her eyes and sighing.

She was curious on something though, as that woman’s necklace matched her own. She looked down to her necklace on her neck and held it within the palm of her hand. Deciding to try what that woman did, she clutched it and shut her eyes tightly before speaking out the name.

“Lorev,” a faint whisper on her lips. A strange feeling throbbing within her as a cool breeze brushed against her face. Something about this name felt right, like saying it made her instantly feel calm and safe.

“You called?” The soft masculine voice followed by the feeling of a hand cupping her cheek caught her attention. Her eyes slowly opened and she looked straight at the beautiful man, whom looked at her with love filled eyes.

“Your name..is Lorev?” Having not caught his name before, it was interesting to find the name from what she saw was his.

Then, pieces began to fit themselves together in her head. There was just one piece missing however, before everything would allow itself to unravel.

That is when he leaned in close to her, and kissed her.

Her eyes widened, but she did not move. Her heart thumped quickly while a flash of images began to fill her mind.

Her eyes began to shut, oh and finally, they were together again. How long it had been, how she never wanted to part with him again.

However…

She placed her hands on his chest, pushing herself away from him. The blue hair and blue eyed goddess stared at him with sad eyes.

“Oh, how did I ever forget you Lorev?” She reaches out to place a hand on his cheek while smiling softly.

He smiled back at her, glee filling his eyes as he held on to both of her cheeks.

“I am thankful for you saving me, but you have to understand. I do not wish to be locked away from the humans, I love them.” She had seemed to read his mind on his plans on keeping her locked away in the palace. Considering how the floor would not liquefy with her walking on it, she could not swim down to the mortal world.

“But..Willith, that have hurt you so much. They will keep hurting you. I don’t want them to take you away from me again” He looked to her with pleading eyes as he moved his hand to grip one of her wrists as she brought a hand back to herself.

“Not all are as cruel as you think.” She told him softly before moving to step away but was stopped as his grip increased on her arm.

“No..I will not let them take you from me again”

Before she could register the words, she was suddenly surrounded by pink water. An exhaustion quickly overcoming her as she looked to him confused.

“I will not let you sacrifice yourself for the humans any longer. Even if it means locking you and your memories away” If she could not remember the good things, then she would not have a reason to love them anymore.

She had no strength to object or talk sense into him, quickly falling asleep while within the pink water.

Soon, she would be put inside a large violet flower, the scent of lavender in the room. Seven days would pass before she would awake.

The beautiful young girl opened her bright blue eyes. She looked around before taking a few steps, exiting the clear water she had been floating in. She stepped out onto a hard blue floor, walking barefoot across it.

As she went to exit the room, she met a tall person with long ice blue hair and eyes. She looked extremely beautiful and pleasant to the eyes.

The person seemed to be carrying a tray of fruits.

“You have awoken! I thought you must be hungry, so I brought you some food.” Their voice was deep, but also very pleasant to the ears.

“Um..sorry, but uh, who are you? Where am I?” the girl questioned him, a curious look on her face, “..who am I?” She continued with a childish innocence in her eyes.

No longer will she have to sacrifice herself for another.

Yes, for he, her true self was taken..

Heat, an unbearable heat. Yet her heart hurt far more than the flames licking her skin. The excited roar of the crowd mixed with the crackling of the fire. The orange, yellow and red colours of the flames growing larger as they ate at the hay and wood beneath her. Her mind raced, while her struggles remained useless as the rough rope dug deeper into her skin.

Why.

Tears burned at the corners of her eyes, choked sobs escaping chapped, bloody lips. Any hope still within her, dies as her eyes lay upon her lover who holds a woman in his arms. The same woman who had shown up but a week ago; the woman who spread rumors around with a tongue soaked in lies and envy.

Anger bubbles up inside the weeping woman, her sadness becoming a great rage as she cast a glare in the direction of the two. Fear, sadness, and anger, the emotions in the eyes of her lover squeeze tightly at her heart.

Why did he not believe her? Why did he trust the words of that vile woman so much? The woman who was the truly wicked one here. True evil under that mask of childish innocence as she tucked her head into his chest as if frightened by the glare of the woman in flames. A smirk playing at her lips as he strokes her head in means of comfort.

A wave of sadness grips the woman once again as she watches this. Memories flooding her mind of all the times he had told her he loves her. All the times he said he would cherish and protect her, no matter what.

Lies. All Lies.

She should have never fallen in love, and never chosen to give up everything to be with him. It was a mistake to have trusted anyone. How quick their smiles and kindness had turn to glares and the need of death.

She narrows her bright blue eyes. A breeze pushing the long locks of vibrant red hair off to the side, ends being burnt by the rising flames. The ripped up dress she wore beginning to catch a flame. Even though she was a mess, she still held a great captivating beauty which had shined out all others just the day before.

“Burn! Burn the Witch!”

The flames began to dance around her as she clenched her fists. Her body almost completely enveloped by the raging flames.

She did not scream in pain.

Instead, she began to softly sing. A sweet childhood lullaby which she had always sung since she was young. Her rage fading as she recalled those sweeter days.

The man with the woman in his arms pauses upon hearing her voice. As if broken from a spell, tears began to fall from his eyes as something squeezed at his heart. He quickly looked up, and his breath caught in his throat as he views a shocking scene before him.

She was smiling sadly at him, tears falling down her cheeks.

“We will always be together, won’t we?”

Memories flashed through his mind, going all the way back to when he had first met her. She looked like an angel, her beauty the most captivating sight. One look at her as he had entered that bakery, and he was hooked.

His original intention upon entering that bakery was to search for a run away witch, whom had broken free of the restraints when they began to bring her over to the center of the village. He himself was apart of the kings army, a well trained man in charge of this small village in the higher north of the kingdom.

That witch ended up escaping, of course, due to the fact that instead of looking around to see her sitting at a small table in the bakery, he was to caught up in a large order of sweets.

He asked for her name, Rosaline… beautiful just as she was. He felt it had suited her. He also gave his, but he found his title Rein Leoik didn’t suit him as much as her name suited her.

“Will that be all sir?” The beautiful women had asked in a voice like that of honey. Who looked at him with bright blue eyes, much like the sky, that you could get lost in.

“Well…um…” He was a mess with his words he had felt rather conflicted. He only had around five silver pieces on him then, so to ask for anymore would be pointless as he did not at that time have enough money. He already as well asked for more then two baskets full, but he really wanted to speak with her longer.

He knew she probably saw how nervous he had been. Bright green eyes looking around the bakery as he had tried to think of what he could do to prolong his stay. He ended up paying and taking the goods with him after saying farewell. He had looked down to the sweets upon exiting the bakery, only then realizing how absorbed he had been in spending time with her.

He did not like sweets.

He had ended up giving them away to some village children.

After that he visited the bakery numerous times. Then after bringing gifts, with each of his visits, he soon began to ask her out with him to spend time outside the bakery walls.

Many of his visits later, they became more than just acquaintances. They did not become lovers, however, till the day they sat in the flower field by the village enjoying a picnic together.

He remembered that day so well, due to it being when they shared their first kiss. He could never forget her beautiful face painted scarlet while her blue eyes looked into his lovingly. During that quiet time she began to sing to him a song she had grown up with, it was beautiful. After that day, they had become lovers. Spending as much time as they could with one another.

Then, one day on a walk, she had asked him something. A rather hopeful question, which then neither had a doubt in.

“We will always be together, won’t we?” She had asked him in such a sugary sweet voice.

“Of course, not even death will tear me away from you!” He had responded before kissing her on the forehead.

That was the day before Elizia had shown up. A fairly good looking women who had traveled around playing music on a flute.

Elizia quickly fell into love with Rein, but he did not love her. She discovered that his heart was captured by Rosaline. Elizia had not liked that one bit, so she had begun to spread around rumors. Not only that, she began to lay traps and tricks. All of which pointed the village against Rosaline to believe she was a witch.

No human woman could be as beautiful as she was. She must have used her magical tricks to mess with their memory. Taking advantage of the villages crops and slaughtering their animals to give sacrifice to the devil she worshiped.

Just why was it that he had begun to believe in these rumors as well, doubting her and leaving her alone when she needed him most? The fact was that witches were horrible creatures, he had believed he had been tricked and went along with it all. Oh how he regretted this as his heart ached in his chest. It was because he loved her, so even if she was a witch, why had he thrown her aside like this?

He began pushing through the crowd to get over to her, casting the wicked woman aside. He cries out, tears flowing freely from his eyes as he reaches out as if trying to save her from her fate.

But it was too late. The flames had already swallowed her whole, her singing becoming pained screams before silence.

She was gone.

The man would kneel on the ground weeping, staring at the spot she had left him for days. Then, with his sympathy for the witch, he too was burned.

No witches were allowed in the Kingdom of Coril.

Reflection 3

This learning cycle was a very interesting one. I enjoyed creating various stories based on the writing prompts provided. Though there’s still much I find I need to work on for my writing, I felt this experience definitely provided my mind with a better knowledge to the writing world.

For the first writing prompt, we had to tell a story in a limit of 500 words. There was much freedom for topic, so I decided to do it based on the witch trials. Of course this was only my base, the broken love story idea coming from a song I once listened to. Using this base of a women getting burned at the stake with her love in an envious woman’s arms led me to create this simple piece. I have great trouble with staying in character, as well as keeping in proper tense. I find that it took me various look overs to determine how exactly I can change it so the tense sounds better, I am still unsure if I managed to improve it properly and hope that learning this helps me better with tense in the future.

The second writing prompt was a challenge. We had to write a creative nonfiction piece based on the hero’s journey, and I had never done anything nonfiction besides things such as essays. So I tend to struggle with nonfiction pieces. I prefer doing fiction as it gives me more room to stretch and not worry as much on the facts. The easiest way for me to try and get anything for this was to go into my life and write a story based on that, though it sounded more like a diary entry. After reading some of what my group members did, I now see how I could have done this piece better. I know this experience will help me with the next creative nonfiction piece I may write in the future.

The third writing prompt was fun. As soon as I was presented with a ‘paper bag’ and given items to choose from to put into a piece. Immediately I thought ‘murder case’ and quickly got to writing out the story that easily flowed into my mind. It taught me a way to use presentenced items which I find can work in the future if I want a certain event or perhaps an ‘easter egg’ into any story I make. I find I could have presented the characters a bit better, though I did do fairly well considering I do struggle when I try to keep and show off a character. I have gotten better at this point then in past pieces I find.

The fourth writing prompt was where we had to use a character we created earlier on, in a task presented before this, and use them in a story piece with dialogue. I had a fun time with this since I had a story idea for the character I made already. I however found myself struggling a bit to make sure to keep on character. As well as slipped with my writing due to having not re-read it properly as I should have. Again I have an issue with tense, something I really need to get a better hold of.     I feel I did manage, however, to stay within my character for each character, and provide an interesting piece.

Overall, this learning cycle was really interesting, and I enjoyed doing it. I feel that I have definitely learned something from this cycle, and hope to use it in my future writing. Such as better focus with tenses, better idea of how to make a character etc. I have also found various flaws, such as with tenses, that I hope I can fix with more practice. I also find that a big help during this cycle was the peer edit. I would not have noticed the many mistakes, and it is nice to get someone else’s view on it.

Reflection #2

Learning Cycle 2 (Reflection)

This learning cycle was focused on poetry. Along with different types of poetry, we were also introduced to the importance of descriptive writing.

The first type of poetry we started with was a ‘found poem’. This is where you take a piece of existing text and create a poem using the words within it. I decided for this piece that it would be fun to use a past written piece of mine to base this poem off of. I feel for my first found poem it came out fairly well. This due to how I feel it could stand alone without the original piece by its side. Picking out what I wanted from the text was simpler then I expected. But perhaps my familiarity to the original piece was why I found it not as confusing as another piece of writing may be. I could have done better in the way I presented the piece. As I find myself most times attempting to stick to one way of doing things even though there are various, and likely better ways, to go about it.

Then we moved onto a descriptive piece, I myself choosing to describe the scene of a girl laying in the grass. I did not do a very good job in getting clearly how I wanted the image to look, and various times almost brought in movement to the piece. I feel I have some laziness when it comes to finding more descriptive words due to the ease of using words I am already familiar with. If I were to take time to search for more words and try out more ways to place them, then I feel it would have turned out better.

After that we went onto a type of visual poetry where we let the words dance, and decorate the page. This seemed quite fun, though I find creativity is important as for some words it is difficult to know what to do with them if aiming to fill the area with no word in just one plain place. To try and make it a bit simpler for myself, as well as easier to grasp for my first time trying it, I had chosen a fairly small nursery rhyme to base it off of. It turned out pretty ok, though was not as great as it could have been if better thought through. Perhaps if I understood certain parts of a visual poem such as this, I would have come out with something better and more fitting to its group. I am still happy, however, how it turned out as it came out fairly ok and reached me enough that I am glad of having done it.

The last piece we focused on for this cycle was a spoken poem. We were given various choices to what we could base it on, I specifically chose one where you repeat a phrase which you pick from a recently spoken thing to you throughout the poem. I chose this due to how I had recently had some interesting words texted to me, and it gave me a chance to put a bit of myself into what I made out of it. Though spoken poetry’s effect can increase greatly when it is actually spoken, I myself am unable to provide that aspect. In the future I can improve this by hopefully overcoming my social anxiety as well as not worry as much at what those who hear my voice think.

Again I find I need to widen my dictionary as I feel that also would have aided the work here. Grammar as well would have helped all these pieces, struggling even more for poetry and pieces alike due to grammar being a rather fickle thing for me. I do wish to be able to improve myself more so that my grammar does get better. Compared to my past works, I do see myself improving however which is a pleasant thing.

These assignments aided in expanding my knowledge in that of poetry. Due to me never knowing their were different types before this. I had always had a rather one minded set for poetry before, keeping it the same way each time with only words written different. What I have learned will definitely help me with future work.

You Are a Piece in My Heart

“You Are a Piece in My Heart”

You are a piece in my heart

My hands cover my ears

I stand still in complete darkness

Unable to go forward

No need to keep going

Within inches

of falling

into nothingness

A Voice

I hear words

Breaking the

Overwhelming

Silence

You are a piece in my heart

I am loved

So despite the dark

I continue on walking down the unstable path

And everytime I stumble

I think back to those important words

You are a piece of my heart

Warmth coats me

I can now see

The path

Clearly

The light guides me

I am needed

I am wanted

I must keep going

You are a piece in my heart

Then

The light swallows me whole

Warmth

A flutter in my chest

I can see everything

Beautiful

The emptiness

Inside

The light filled it

No

Those words filled it

You are a piece in my heart

I love

This feeling

Darkness

May return

But these words

Will keep me anchored

In this

Beautiful

Light

So even if I return

To the pain

The dark

This light will guide me

Through the dark

All that is needed

Is to remember

Remember

These words

You are a piece in my heart

Reflection #1

During this learning cycle their were various assignments assigned. For the first assignment, of this cycle, we were to chose one out of three scenes to ‘show’ instead of ‘tell.’ I chose the ‘ I got my ears pierced’ scene because I felt it was within my capabilities and I had a fair amount of an idea of how I wanted to write it. Then we went onto the next assignments, which were based on ‘voice’. The first piece being one we could choose any topic to speak out in our own writers voices. I enjoyed doing this piece since I could speak on whatever I really wanted to. So I ended up choosing a topic I had been thinking on recently for it. The next assignment was a continued version of ‘voice’ but in a story. I chose my character as a little girl because I rarely write as a younger character and I felt it a good chance to do so in a situation a child may not do well in. Then lastly, we have a piece based on ‘audience’ where we needed to pick a topic to speak to different audiences about. I had pondered for a fair amount of time one what topic to do, ending up with a simple ‘bath over showers’ topic. I tried my best on this piece to change how I wrote it to better suit the intended reader.

I feel the things I learned in this cycle were aidful, though challenging, in the way it helped me better understand myself and writing. I find I was a bit challenged when it came to audience as well as how to truly connect with the point of view of a character. While the assignments in this cycle revealed a deeper understanding of how writing is a craft with the main layout you set for yourself before you write.

I can use what I learned in future writing pieces to improve my writing. Focusing on my voice and how I wish to connect to the reader, and what kind or reader I want to connect with.

Perhaps not a pattern but I was rather focused on a type of topic or character that I felt I could connect with personally in anyway. Something I could speak of from within myself as to be confident, and passionate in what I put down. I feel doing this helped me get the words out rather then meet a stop as I wrote.

The assignments in this cycle were very important. They taught me the importance of voice in all writing. Showing me not to stray from my own self to end up with a work that confuses me. I find my weaknesses in writing is usually grammar, where I place words, and putting down what I really want another to see within my words. I know I am not a bad writer but I am unsure on the specific strengths I have in writing. It is easier for me, I find, to focus on what is flawed in my writing and to fix it with time and practice. Also, I don’t really see what improvement I may have in these tasks. If I had to name one,  it could be a better understanding of ‘audience’ although their is still more I could improve on to make my writing better for each suited audience.

I wish to improve my writing, and never stop improving. The things I wish to fix are many. I want to be able to truly get what I invision in my mind out and speak to the readers. I want to be able to make emotions spark within those who read my work. For those who read my work to invision each word I write into a perfect picture. To be able to reach these goals I need to improve my writing so it can be better understood without one needing to read it multiple times to truly get it. My main focus currently would be grammar, character/story development, and to expand my vocabulary. I will probably try to achieve this, as I have been for awhile now, by writing any chance I get. Spending time focusing on how to improve then try writing with those improvements.

Humans, Technology, and Possibilities

The world is filled with so many people. There are an overwhelming amount of people on earth. This number is so large that it is impossible to personally know every single person on this planet. The mere idea of knowing everyone on the planet, personally makes butterflies push against my stomach walls. I cannot fathom such a thing actually happening. If it were possible, it would be a rather troublesome thing. Think of it. Everyday people are dying and being born. The uncountable number of deaths would leave you at a loss and all the births would be increasing the never ending list in your head. Then there is war, time, ability and other variables that would make things rather difficult for you to keep up with it all. Knowing everyone on the planet just is not something a human can do. Our lives are to short and brains not large enough to hold so much information. We aren’t computers after all. Technology however, does have the ability to document the current amount of living and dead humans. As long as we record it to a place like the internet, it is possible. What an amazing thing, technology.

Technology is so amazing, it has grown to be very useful to humans. It also has various superior aspects such as its endless possibilities. The internet can live forever; humans cannot. Then there’s the fact humans heavily rely on technology to a rather frightening point. Some technology humans tend to rely on are elevators, texting, typing, phones, and more. It is not an impossible thing to think that there may perhaps be flying cars or human-like robots in the future. When we think of humans though, there are far more limits. An example of a human limit would be how if we lose a leg, we cannot replace it with another real leg. Another flaw, compared to technology, humans have is how our emotions can drive our actions, and we do things that make no sense with logical thought. Unlike technology, however, humans do have some good points.  One would be the fact humans created technology in the first place. Humans created something that could do what they could not. They use everything around them to make up for what they cannot do on their own. Humans can make impossibilities possible by overcoming what they cannot do with what they can do.
